Wednesday 12:00 noon; Saturday 10:00 am coffee break
While scenes shot in Paris on May 15, 2016 playing onscreen, a Parisian narrator tells us the story of May 15, 1848, 168 years earlier, when protesters finally pushed the establishment to let them have a popular vote to elect their ruler. Produced by Martin Scorsese's longtime producer Barbara De Fina and directed by award-winning director Janek Ambros, MAY FIFTEENTH IN PARIS metaphorically compares the populist protest of 1848 with the populist election of Donald Trump in 2016.
Post-screening discussion will be paired with the panel for Is America in Retreat? at 11:30.
