Bob Barr served on the Judiciary Committee, the Financial Services Committee, and the Government Reform and Oversight Committee while in Congress. He was appointed as the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia by President Ronald Reagan in 1986, and served until 1990. Barr attained national prominence as one of the leaders of the impeachment of President Bill Clinton. He joined the Libertarian Party in 2006 and was the Libertarian Party's nominee for President of the United States in the 2008 election. Bob now practices law and runs a consulting firm, Liberty Strategies, in Atlanta, Georgia. He writes columns on public policy issues, including a column appearing each Wednesday for Townhall.com. He heads Liberty Guard, a non-profit and non-partisan organization dedicated to protecting individual liberty.
