Foundation for New Hampshire Independence
Carla Gericke was born in South Africa, and moved to the U.S. after being awarded a green card. She practiced law in Silicon Valley before completing her M.F.A. in NYC. After moving to New Hampshire in 2008 as part of Free State Project, Carla twice organized PorcFest, doubling attendance during that time. In 2013, she successfully spearheaded efforts to remove fraudulent claims about Free Staters from a federal BEARCAT grant application. In 2014, Carla, acting as plaintiff, won a landmark First Circuit Court of Appeals case affirming the 1st Amendment right to film police encounters. She was named one of NH Magazine’s 2014 Remarkable Women. Carla was president of the FSP from 2011-2015 and oversaw “triggering the move” two years earlier than projected. She is working on a memoir, Chill Don’t Kill, about her experiences. Carla now serves as president of the Foundation for New Hampshire Independence.
