Deputy Director
David Safavian is the Deputy Director of the American Conservative Union Foundation’s Center for Criminal Justice Reform, where he advocates for policy changes that improve public safety, ensure personal responsibility, maintain government accountability, and protect human dignity.
Safavian’s career has taken him to all three branches of the federal government. He held two senior policy positions in the Bush Administration, was chief of staff to Congressman Chris Cannon (R-UT), and was a law clerk for Judge Paul Komives. He recently completed a year of teaching ethics at Georgetown University. David Safavian has an MBA from Loyola University Maryland, a master’s of law (LL.M) in taxation from the Georgetown University Law Center, a juris doctorate from the Michigan State University, and a bachelor’s degree from St. Louis University. He lives in Alexandria, Virginia, with his wife and two daughters.
