Shelby Steele is a research fellow at the Hoover Institution and is featured in the film I Am or How Jack Became Black. He is the author of the New York Times bestseller The Content of Our Character, which won the National Book Critics’ Circle Award. Steele’s most recent book is Shame: How America’s Past Sins Have Polarized Our Country. As a filmmaker, he won an Emmy for the PBS documentary, Seven Days in Bensonhurst.
