Victor E. Bernson, Jr. is vice president and general counsel of Americans for Prosperity and Americans for Prosperity Foundation. Prior to his arrival at AFP, he served as director of legal affairs at The Pew Charitable Trusts and as general counsel for DCI Group, a political advocacy firm in Washington, DC. During the Bush Administration, Vic served as general counsel for the White House Office of Administration, and as legislative counsel for the U.S. Department of Defense in Secretary Rumsfeld’s office. He also served for three years in the Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys at the U.S. Department of Justice. From 1990 to 1998, Vic was an active duty U.S. Navy officer in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps, where he served two years at sea and six consecutive years stationed abroad in the Philippines and Italy. Vic spent five years on the Board of Education for Anne Arundel County, Maryland. He received his BA from Brown University, his JD from Boston University, and has received an MS from the U.S. Naval War College.
